Job summary

WSP in Billings, MT is seeking a Senior Level Substation Structural Engineer to lead the electrical substation structural design, including foundations, structure, rigid bus, and control buildings. You will develop construction specs, cost estimates, and schedules while supervising engineers, designers, and drafters.

Occasional travel and strong English communication are expected. This role requires ABET BSCE, 5-7 years of experience, and PE exam completion.

Qualifications

• BSCE degree from an ABET-accredited college.
• 5–7 years of post-education experience in structural design.
• Expertise in structural analysis including steel and concrete design.
• Advanced knowledge of building codes and standards (ASCE, ACI, AISC, IEEE, etc).
• Successful completion of the PE exam.

Responsibilities

• Lead other engineers, designers, and drafters and self-perform all aspects of electrical substation structural design.
• Develop structural construction specifications, cost estimates, and project schedules.
• Prepare calculation packages to satisfy client, code, and company requirements.
• Coordinate with other disciplines contributing to electrical substation design.
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide construction phase support.
