Job summary

WSP USA in Billings, MT seeks a Senior Level Substation Structural Engineer to lead the design of electrical substations, including foundations, structures, rigid bus, and control buildings. You’ll develop specifications, estimates, and schedules while coordinating with multiple disciplines and ensuring constructability and compliance.

Occasional travel is required. The ideal candidate has a BSCE from ABET, 5–7 years of relevant experience, and a PE license, with advanced knowledge of building

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BSCE required in civil/structural engineering.
• 5–7 years of post-education structural design experience.
• Proficiency in structural analysis for steel and concrete.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• PE license is required; NCEES exam completed.
• Knowledge of ASCE, ACI, AISC, IEEE codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineers, designers, and drafters in substation structural design.
• Develop foundations, structures, bus, and control building designs.
• Prepare construction specs, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Coordinate with disciplines; review shop drawings and RFIs.
• Ensure constructability and codes compliance; travel as needed.
