Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Raleigh, NC, is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to manage Secondary Engineering (Control & Protection) for AIS and GIS substations from 69kV to 765kV. You will lead protection philosophy development, AC/DC schematics, and substation automation, collaborating with design, commissioning, and project teams.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, documentation, risk assessment, and adherence to NERC/IEEE standards, with travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
8+ years in control and protection engineering for substations.
Experience with protection diagrams, philosophies, and architectures; familiar with EC/AC schematics.

Responsibilities

Manage Secondary Engineering activities for AIS and GIS substations from 69kV to 765kV.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external partners for project delivery.
Develop protection scope documents and engineering design packages.
Serve as primary technical contact for Secondary Engineering during proposals and projects.
Create detailed protection diagrams, philosophies, and communication architectures.
Support installation and commissioning teams during project execution.
