Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Protection & Controls Engineer to lead HV substation protection design and delivery for North American clients. You will interface with utility and developer teams, develop relay schemes, and ensure QA/QC of electrical design deliverables.

The role emphasizes leadership, client interaction, and mentoring across a global delivery network, with hybrid work options and ongoing industry engagement.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of direct protection and controls design experience with utility or consulting organization.
• Advanced knowledge of protection philosophies and relaying functions for HV substations.
• Development of substation protection and control drawings (one lines, panel layouts, AC/DC schematics).
• Knowledge of DNP3 & IEC 61850 designs and protection deliverables.
• QA/QC of design calculations, drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

• Develop P&C deliverables for utility projects and developer facilities.
• Mentor and develop North America and global teams within Jacobs GID.
• Collaborate with sales/proposals and ensure high-quality delivery to clients.
• Engage with IEEE/PES and industry events to promote services.
