Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Protection & Controls Engineer to lead P&C design for transmission and distribution projects in North America. You will develop protective schemes, review drawings, and coordinate with regional and global delivery teams to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.

The role requires 10+ years in protection and control, PE licensure in the US, and strong communication skills. The position supports Jacobs’ hybrid working policy and client interfacing responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s adds 1 year experience)
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States; multi-licensing possible
• At least 10 years of direct protection and controls design experience for utilities or consultants
• Knowledge of line, transformer, breaker-failure, cap bank protection, and differential protection for HV substations
• Experience in developing substation protection and control drawings (one lines, layouts, schematics)
• Knowledge of DNP3 & IEC 61850 and protection/control deliverables
• Ability to perform SCADA design for substation P&C
• Field visits and engineering support during construction
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Team player with interpersonal and presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Develop P&C deliverables for substations per client standards
• Mentor and guide project teams across North America and globally
• Interface with utility/developer clients to present protection concepts
• Support sales and proposals with technical inputs
• Perform QA/QC on calculations, drawings and specs
• Contribute to field walks and site support during construction
