Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. You will lead high‑voltage protection and control projects, mentor staff, and drive delivery of complex assignments across multiple offices.

The role requires outstanding expertise in protection relay, SCADA integration, and power system studies, with a focus on client service, quality, and safe, reliable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineer license (PE).
• 15 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, delivery, and technical execution of high-voltage substation protection and control projects.
• Serve as a technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, automation, and substation communications.
• Develop, review, and approve protection and control engineering deliverables (schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, panel layouts).
• Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and related analyses.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, utility standards, and CDM Smith quality procedures.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams for project delivery, commissioning, testing, startup.
