Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to provide technical leadership within our Power and Energy practice. You will oversee high‑voltage substation projects, act as the technical authority for protection/relaying, and mentor engineers to grow the team.

You will drive project delivery, ensure quality, support business development, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to meet client requirements and advance reliable power infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license is required.
• Minimum of 15 years of related experience; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, delivery, and technical execution of high-voltage substation protection and control projects.
• Serve as technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, automation, and substation communications.
• Develop and approve protection/control engineering deliverables (schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, panel layouts, integration docs).
• Oversee power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and related analyses.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements and CDM Smith standards.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for commissioning, testing, and startup activities.
• Drive quality reviews and standards development to improve project delivery.
