Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Substation Project Engineer in the Columbus, OH area to lead the detailed design of medium to extra-high-voltage substations and manage client relationships. The role emphasizes project leadership, QA/QC, and coordination across disciplines.

You will mentor team members, develop schedules and budgets, and support construction activities while adhering to client standards and company policies. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
• 7–10 years of post-education experience in electrical engineering for power generation, transmission, and distribution projects.
• Experience in 15 kV – 345 kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Proven project leadership with ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering and related disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams and manage client relationships.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, and quality for assigned projects.
• Perform detailed design of medium to extra-high-voltage substations.
• Provide construction support and inter-discipline coordination.
• Mentor junior team members and ensure QA/QC compliance.
