Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Lead Substation Project Engineer for our Power & Energy Substation Team with primary duties across Boise, ID, Reno, NV, and other western locations. The role offers on-site, hybrid, or remote work depending on location and project needs.

You will provide technical leadership through concept to commissioning, oversee design, analysis, and procurement, and mentor junior staff while ensuring safety and quality standards across complex substations and related systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in design deliverables for capital projects in power generation, transmission, and distribution.
• Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
• Proficiency with electrical engineering principles, design/build, and permitting.
• Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and program/construction management.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across multi-site substations projects.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, quality, and deliverables.
• Perform QA/QC reviews for technical deliverables.
• Coordinate with clients, regulators, and internal teams.
• Mentor engineers and designers through project execution.
• Prepare technical reports and design documents.
