Qualifications

Job description

About the role:

We’re looking for a Sr. Substation Project Engineer on behalf of our client. This 1‑year contract assignment (W-2) is for the Engineering & Construction Team.

You will be responsible for all assigned renewable generation substation projects from conception (Early Stage) through construction and commissioning (Execution).

You will lead a team of engineers and technical specialists that perform engineering functions, provide direction on projects to the department or project team members, and report to the onsite manager.

Travel between worksites and other locations is an essential job function and expectation of the position. You must hold a valid driver’s license.

Location: Remote position with some travel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports.
• Secure required resources and use formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks, and changes.
• Conduct project meetings and oversee project tracking and analysis.
• Identify challenges, measure outcomes, validate results, and implement solutions.
• Provide information to internal and external clients on moderate to complex issues.
• Competitively source, select, and contract geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services, supporting the E&C Cost Estimating Team with scope assumptions.

Qualifications:

• Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
• Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
• Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
• Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural engineering
• 6+ years’ experience in substation design and engineering of high‑voltage substation projects
• Project Engineering or Project Management experience
• PMP or P.E. in related discipline is helpful
• Some travel required within North America
