Job summary

GAI Consultants, Inc. seeks a Substation Engineer 3 to join our Power Delivery Engineering Business Unit in Arizona. The candidate will design, review, and coordinate protection, control, and substation layouts for high-voltage projects, leading multidisciplinary teams and ensuring quality, safety, and schedule compliance.

Ideal candidates will have 8+ years of relevant experience, a P.E. license with multi-state reciprocity, and strong proficiency in power delivery design software.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in engineering.
• PE license with reciprocity in multiple states.
• Experience with utility/energy infrastructure projects.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design and QA/QC reviews for substation and protection and control systems up to 500kV.
• Develop and revise engineering drawings, including one-line diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams, grounding plans and layouts.
• Integrate protection and control systems with substation layouts and equipment.
• Develop control and relay panel specifications, bill of materials, and project criteria documents.
• Manage multiple projects with minimal guidance and mentor junior staff.
