Job summary

GAI Consultants Inc. seeks a Lead Designer for Substation Physical Design to lead design efforts on high‑voltage projects from 12kV to 500kV.

The role includes mentoring CAD staff, providing technical guidance, and performing design reviews across multiple projects in a flexible, hybrid or fully remote setting. The successful candidate will manage design activities, develop criteria, and ensure QA/QC compliance while coordinating with clients and project teams to meet schedule and budget

Qualifications

• 10+ years of related experience required.
• Associate Degree or equivalent experience.
• Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Design checks for drawings including one-lines, grounding, conduit, and lighting.
• Create physical layouts and substation designs integrating with protection and control drawings.
• Develop project criteria and design specifications incl. BOM.
• Design and size auxiliary systems, AC/DC loads, batteries, and chargers.
• QA/QC reviews on drawing packages per client standards.
