Job summary

K&A Power Group in the Boston/Worcester area is seeking a Field Construction Manager- Substation to lead field activities for substations and underground transmission projects. You will coordinate civil and electrical construction efforts, review plans on site, and ensure work is performed safely and to approved designs.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of directly relevant field experience in electrical utility infrastructure, with proven substation construction expertise and Massachusetts code

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; extensive field experience may substitute.
• Minimum 5+ years of field construction experience in electrical utility infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience with the construction of electrical substations.
• Experience with underground high-voltage/transmission cable construction.
• Strong knowledge of civil and electrical construction practices for utilities.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specs, and field conditions.
• Working knowledge of Massachusetts construction codes and utility requirements.
• OSHA construction safety training and utility certifications.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel across the Greater Boston–Worcester area.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day field construction management for substation and underground transmission projects.
• Coordinate civil construction activities: site development, excavation, grading, foundations, duct banks, trenches, equipment pads, structural work.
• Oversee electrical construction activities: substation equipment installation, grounding, conduit and cable systems, underground transmission cables.
• Review drawings, specifications, work packages, and field conditions; provide practical input.
• Make field decisions; coordinate with engineering for design changes.
• Monitor contractor performance, quality, schedule, and safety compliance.
• Identify field conflicts and drive timely resolution; coordinate interfaces among teams.
• Ensure compliance with Massachusetts building, electrical, environmental, and utility requirements.
• Participate in meetings, inspections, outage coordination, and project closeouts; maintain field documentation.
