Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC is seeking a Principal Engineer- Substation for a 1-year contract. Remote work available with travel within North America.

Responsible for leading substation projects for FERC 1000 RFPs and early diligence, coordinating with ISC on scope, bids and awards. The role requires a Bachelor's in electrical, mechanical, or civil/structural engineering and 7+ years in HV substation design; HVDC experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in electrical, mechanical or civil/structural engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in substation design and high‑voltage projects.
• HVDC experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Oversee compliance with documents, codes (IEEE, NESC, ASCE) and RFP requirements.
• Coordinate with teams to secure substation site, design updates, permits.
• Source and contract geotechnical, survey, engineering and construction services.
• Represent internal/external interests; report progress and risks to management.
• Manage long-lead material orders and assist with SOWs and shopping carts.
• Support E&C Estimating with templates and scope changes.
