Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer in Texas/Fort Worth to apply expertise in protective relaying and controls for HV/EHV substations. You will lead design efforts, perform calculations, and create specifications for modifications and upgrades.

The role requires a BS in engineering, 12+ years of substation design experience at 138 kV+, and a PE license. Hybrid work with 3 days in-office and relocation support are offered along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering required.
• 12+ years designing substations 138 kV+.
• PE license and client liaison experience.
• Experience with relay calculations documentation.
• Familiar with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI.

Responsibilities

• Prepare relaying philosophies and equipment selections.
• Guide engineers and designers in protection and controls design.
• Troubleshoot and resolve engineering issues.
• Design single-line and relay diagrams, metering diagrams.
• Prepare engineering studies for client review.
• Perform independent reviews and ensure timely design.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, and project managers.
• Review existing facilities for upgrades and upgrades proposals.
• Mentor less experienced engineers.
