ENERCON's Power Delivery Group - Senior Substation Engineer
ENERCON's Power Delivery group is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to join our team in Orlando, FL, Dallas, TX, Kennesaw, GA, Nashville (Madison), TN, or other ENERCON locations across the Mountain, Central, and Eastern time zones. Remote work may be considered for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Contribute to complex projects in design and project leadership capacities, interfacing directly with clients on low to high voltage substation engineering projects.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in detailed 4kV - 500kV substation physical design and/or protection control and SCADA design projects.
- Deliver typical substation physical design outputs, including one-line drawings, general arrangement drawings, conduit and cable plans, grounding and foundation plans, and Bill of Materials.
- Provide protection and control engineering deliverables such as relay one-line diagrams, schematic drawings, control house layouts, and wiring diagrams.
- Review relay settings and collaborate with relay engineers to ensure accuracy.
- Lead substation design projects as needed.
- Perform design calculations and analyses, including ground grid, lightning protection, lighting, bus calculations, and voltage drop assessments.
- Conduct quality control on physical and protection/control design projects.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across Protection & Controls, Structural, Civil, Transmission, and Drafting.
- Develop technical specifications and work scopes for equipment and construction.
- Utilize CAD tools such as Microstation and AutoCAD for physical design tasks.
- Work closely with team members to ensure timely, accurate delivery that meets industry standards and client expectations.
- Provide on-site technical support during construction and commissioning when required.
- Estimate project costs, schedules, and budgets.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in substation engineering design.
- Proficiency with Microstation, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam; experience with WinIGS is preferred.
- PE license is highly preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of NESC, IEEE, and relevant standards.
- Willingness to enter energized substations with proper safety training and PPE.
- Strong time management skills and commitment to delivering accurate work on schedule.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Windows.
