Job summary

National Grid seeks an experienced Senior Engineer for Substation O&M Services in Massachusetts. The role blends technical engineering, asset management, and field collaboration to deliver a safer, more sustainable energy future.

The position manages multiple projects, develops long-range maintenance philosophies, and interfaces with Field Operation Teams, Engineering, and Contractors. Travel and storm duty support are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of 5 or more years of directly related experience in utility engineering and/or utility operations.
• Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, ANSI, NESC, SATM, ISO, EPA, ASTM, ASME.
• Ability to travel outside Company territory.
• Ability to carry 50 pounds of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for 35+ MW of grid installed solar and 60+ MWh of BESS.
• Maintain a comprehensive budget for operation expenses.
• Report to the DPU on site statuses, production values, and operating costs.
• Collaborate with Field Operation Teams, Engineering, Project Management, Contractors, and Dispatch for maintenance activities.
• Assist with substation projects including scope, design criteria, and data integration.
• Provide technical support for testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
