Job summary

WSP Global Inc. in Maitland, FL is seeking an Experienced Substation Drafter to support the Power Delivery Substation Team. The role centers on technical design and CADD support for plans used in planning, infrastructure, and project execution.

You will generate design deliverables, verify calculations, and collaborate with engineers to resolve design details while ensuring compliance with codes and industry standards. Some travel may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 7+ years of post-education drafting and design support experience.
• Knowledge of drafting and design principles, practices, process, methods and techniques.
• Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
• Ability to make technical computations involving geometry and mathematical concepts.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Self-leadership with attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Analytical mindset to evaluate situations and make decisions.
• Proven commitment to workplace safety and policy adherence.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical design and CADD support on projects.
• Generate accurate design phase deliverables including reports, memos, plans, specifications, and material lists.
• Ensure quality and compliance with industry standards.
• Collaborate with engineers to resolve design details and discrepancies.
• Verify calculations and interpretation of contract plans.
• Work with cross-functional teams on project phases.
• Ensure plans adhere to codes and regulations.
• Prepare multiple design versions for review.
• Coordinate with engineer-in-charge and other professionals on project tasks.
• Apply analytical methods to solve engineering issues.
• Engage with client and contractor personnel as needed.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies.
• Travel as required.
