Job summary

WSP is seeking an Experienced Substation Design Engineer for our Maitland, FL office. The role focuses on physical and protection & control design for substations, with involvement in projects within the Power Delivery Substation Team.

A hybrid or in-office setup is preferred, with remote consideration for proven experience. You will support due diligence, design, and construction of utility-scale substations, develop calculations, reports, and drawings, and collaborate with multidisciplinary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Engineer in Training Certification required or pursuing licensure.
• 3–5 years of electrical design experience in power transmission/ distribution.
• Familiarity with design software (CADD, ETAP, CAPE) and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance for design, development, and construction of high-voltage substation projects (15kV–345kV, up to 500kV preferred).
• Collect and analyze data for procurement packages, IFR/IRC processes, and IEEE/NERC regulations.
• Review third-party design documents, procurement lists, and project plans.
• Develop physical layouts and/ or protection and control system designs for substations.
• Create data visualizations, calculations, and drawings for presentations and compliance.
