Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Substation Designer to lead P&C and Physical Design for AIS and GIS substations. You will develop wiring packages, diagrams, cable schedules, and layouts, coordinating with civil, structural, and protection teams from design through commissioning.

You will guide junior designers, ensure standards compliance, and support construction and QA/QC processes while embedding digital design tools to improve outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or related discipline.
• Minimum 12 years of substation design experience.
• Experience in P&C and Physical Design for AIS and GIS substations.
• Experience with 12 kV through 500 kV projects.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or comparable design software.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain complete P&C point-to-point wiring design packages for utility and industrial substation projects.
• Prepare panel wiring diagrams, field interconnection wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, relay panel arrangements, communications and SCADA wiring drawings.
• Develop cable schedules and routing plans.
• Perform DC/AC distribution breaker and fuse sizing.
• Create station one-line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts.
• Develop grounding plans, lightning protection, raceway layouts, and cable trench layouts.
