Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Substation Designer to deliver P&C and Physical Design packages for AIS and GIS substations. You will develop wiring diagrams, bus layouts, and grounding plans while coordinating with multiple engineering teams across utility, industrial, and data center projects.

You will mentor junior designers, ensure design quality and compliance, and support construction and commissioning activities within a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or related discipline.
• 12+ years of substation design experience.
• Experience in P&C and Physical Design for AIS and GIS.
• Experience with 12 kV through 500 kV projects.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE standards.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain complete P&C point to point wiring design packages for utility and industrial substation projects.
• Prepare panel wiring diagrams, field interconnection wiring diagrams, and relay panel layouts.
• Develop cable schedules and routing plans; perform DC/AC distribution sizing.
• Create station one-line diagrams, general arrangements, equipment layouts and elevations.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, and protection disciplines; integrate into design packages.
• Review design deliverables for quality, accuracy, and client requirements.
• Mentor junior designers and drafters; support QA/QC processes.
• Support construction activities and commissioning as required.
