Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Substation Designer to deliver Protection & Control and Physical Design packages for AIS and GIS projects across utility, industrial, and data center sectors.

You will develop wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and station layouts, coordinating with engineers, clients, and contractors, while mentoring junior designers and ensuring adherence to NEC, NESC, and IEEE standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering tech or related field required.
• 12+ years substation design experience with P&C and Physical Design.
• Experience from 12 kV through 500 kV and AIS/GIS substations.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or comparable design software.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE standards and utility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop P&C point-to-point wiring design packages for substations.
• Prepare wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and relay panel arrangements.
• Create cable schedules, routing plans, and 1-line diagrams.
• Coordinate with civil/structural/other disciplines throughout design.
• Mentor junior designers and oversee design quality and revisions.
