Job summary

EDG Inc. in Metairie, LA, is seeking a Sr. Manager-Substation Design Engineer to lead the detailed design of substations for electric utilities, contractors, and developers.

You will oversee technical work from concept through design completion. The role requires extensive knowledge of power transmission, protective relays, grounding, and IEEE/NERC standards, with strong leadership and collaboration skills to drive project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
• Five (5) years of electrical engineering experience in power transmission and distribution.
• Experience with infrastructure planning and construction management.
• Ability to coordinate with regulators and understand requirements.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, codes, and permitting requirements.
• Experience with discipline-specific design software (CADD, Aspen, CAPE, ETAP) and AutoCAD Electrical.

Responsibilities

• Develop substation layouts, single/three-line diagrams, and grounding design.
• Analyze data for procurement packages, IFR/IRC design, and IEEE/NERC compliance.
• Review third-party designs and project plans.
• Prepare calculations for loads, voltages, and protection schemes.
• Collaborate with engineers and regulatory staff on multi-site projects.
• Create reports and visualizations to support design decisions.
