Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer - Substation Design to lead GIS substation projects from concept through installation. You’ll translate client needs into practical engineering solutions and develop layouts, drawings, and technical documentation.

Collaborating with customers and global teams, you’ll drive design optimization, ensure regulatory and safety compliance, and manage procurement, fabrication, and installation planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in substation engineering, high-voltage equipment, or heavy industrial projects preferred.
• Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software; Creo and AutoCAD experience is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical GIS (Gas-Insulated Switchgear) substation projects from initial design through installation and commissioning.
• Translate customer requirements into practical, innovative engineering solutions.
• Develop substation layouts, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Facilitate technical discussions and project meetings with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate material procurement, fabrication activities, and installation planning.
• Drive design optimization efforts to improve quality, efficiency, and cost performance.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams to deliver best-in-class solutions.
• Ensure compliance with ISO, environmental, quality, and safety standards.
