Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Substation Physical Designer for our Hailey, ID office. You will support the Power Delivery Substation Team with technical design, drafting, and coordination across projects.

You will use AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, MicroStation, and Inventor to create detailed layouts, BOMs, and grounding plans, while ensuring compliance with IEEE/NEC/NESC standards and client requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 9+ years of post-education drafting and design experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, MicroStation, Inventor.
• Substation physical design experience up to 500 kV.
• Familiar with IEEE, NEC, NESC and RUS standards.
• Strong drafting and design support knowledge and methods.
• Ability to perform technical calculations and geometry applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical design and CADD support for substation projects.
• Draft physical and civil layouts, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Prepare detailed substation drawings, BOMs, grounding and conduit plans.
• Ensure designs meet client and WSP CADD standards and project expectations.
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers across projects.
• Verify calculations, review design changes, and resolve technical issues.
• Mentor entry-level drafting staff and perform QA on packages.
• Ensure compliance with city, state and federal regulations.
