Job summary

McMillen, Inc. seeks a Senior Structural Managing Engineer to lead multi-discipline water resources projects, including fisheries, hydropower, dams, and water treatment.

You will manage client relationships, coordinate with practice leads, and drive design from feasibility to commissioning. Ideal candidate has 18+ years in civil/hydraulic engineering, PE license, and experience with FERC/USACE/USBR regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited University.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 18+ years of experience in civil, and/or hydraulic engineering.
  • Professional Engineering registration is required. California PE registration strongly preferred.
  • Experience with water resource infrastructure including fishery related projects, water conveyance, storm water networks, heavy grading, water treatment, wastewater treatment and pump stations.
  • Familiarity with Federal Agency codes and requirements, including FERC, USACE, USBR.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Ability to get along and work effectively with others.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and maintain client relationships. Attend conferences and meetings with clients; participate in workshops.
  • Identify project opportunities, pursue proposals, and plan strategies for water resource needs.
  • Conduct kickoff meetings and review project plans with stakeholders.
  • Manage changes to scope, schedule, and costs with proper verification techniques.
  • Ensure alignment with the Project Plan and manage multi-discipline teams.
  • Measure project performance and communicate variances to stakeholders.
  • Execute tasks to achieve project goals and develop the communication plan.
  • Identify key project team members and define roles and responsibilities.
  • Mitigate risks and implement actions to minimize impact on projects.
  • Lead, mentor, and train team members to improve performance.
  • Design water infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities and distribution/conveyance facilities.
  • Prepare planning reports, plans and specifications, and cost estimates for water infrastructure projects.
  • Manage planning, design, and construction support services for water, recycled water, and wastewater projects.
  • Design storm water management systems for water quality and quantity control.
  • Prepare drainage, erosion, and construction plans and related engineering estimates.
