Job summary

Qualdoc in Gallaway, TN seeks a Structural Steel Fabrication Superintendent to oversee daily production across two facilities and multiple shifts. You will provide hands-on leadership to shop supervisors, focusing on safety, quality, and timely delivery.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in structural steel fabrication and strong knowledge of AWS D1.1, with experience in an AISC-certified environment. AWS/CWI credentials are valued; relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of structural steel fabrication experience.
• 5+ years of leadership experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or production.
• Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1; CWI certification is preferred but not required.
• Experience working in an AISC-certified fabrication environment.
• Experience managing large, heavy, or complex steel fabrication projects.
• Working knowledge of SSPC and ASTM coating requirements.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day fabrication activities across two facilities.
• Lead production supervisors and coordinate work across multiple shifts.
• Oversee safety, quality, productivity, equipment, and scheduling.
• Monitor projects from production through shipping and ensure delivery commitments.
• Provide hands‑on leadership, coaching, workforce development, and performance guidance.
• Support recruiting, retention, succession planning, and employee development initiatives.
• Identify production challenges and opportunities for process improvement.
• Coordinate activities between multiple departments for efficient workflow.
• Manage priorities across complex heavy fabrication projects.
• Support scheduling, staffing decisions, and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and fabrication standards.
