The ideal candidate has extensive structural steel fabrication experience with AWS D1.1 familiarity, AISC experience, and a hands-on leadership style to mentor

Qualifications

• 7+ years of structural steel fabrication experience.
• 5+ years of leadership experience in fabrication or manufacturing.
• Extensive knowledge of AWS D1.1; CWI certification preferred but not required.
• Experience in an AISC-certified shop or manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of SSPC and ASTM coating requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Job Type: Direct Hire

Starting Salary: $80,000/year - higher depending on experience

Position Overview

We are seeking a Structural Steel Plant Manager to lead fabrication operations across two nearby facilities operating on two shifts. This position provides hands-on leadership to production supervisors and is responsible for maintaining safe, efficient, high-quality operations while keeping production and shipping schedules on track.

The ideal candidate brings extensive structural steel fabrication experience, knowledge of AISC and AWS standards, familiarity with coating requirements, and a strong background leading complex fabrication operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct daily production activities across two facilities located within approximately one mile of each other.
• Lead operations across two shifts and provide guidance to department and shop supervisors.
• Oversee approximately 65 employees, with planned growth toward approximately 90 employees.
• Manage approximately 5-6 direct reports in supervisory roles.
• Maintain accountability for employee safety, facility conditions, equipment maintenance, production efficiency, and product quality.
• Coordinate fabrication schedules and ensure work is completed according to required shipping and delivery dates.
• Monitor workflows and identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
• Support recruiting, employee retention, workforce development, and succession planning efforts.
• Participate in employee disciplinary actions and other personnel-related matters.
• Help identify potential operational issues before they affect production, quality, or delivery.
• Manage multiple fabrication projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Work closely with operations leadership and other departments to maintain smooth production flow.
• Perform other operational and leadership duties as assigned.

• CNC Processing

Qualifications

• 7+ years of structural steel fabrication experience
• 5+ years of leadership experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or production
• Extensive knowledge of AWS D1.1; CWI certification is preferred but not required
• Experience working in an AISC-certified shop or manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated experience managing large, heavy, and complex structural steel fabrication projects
• Working knowledge of SSPC and ASTM coating requirements
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes, workflows, and shop practices
• Knowledge of industry safety standards and practices
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to recognize potential production issues and improvement opportunities
• Hands-on leadership approach with the ability to work effectively with supervisors and production teams
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
