Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design seeks a Senior Structural Project Engineer for its Waterway Structures team with potential for remote work. Lead design of large, complex waterway projects while coordinating with clients and teams to deliver construction documents and seismic/structural integrity assessments.

The role requires a civil/structural engineering degree, EIT certification, and 7+ years of experience; PE license or path to obtain within 12 months is preferred.

• Experience with analyses in SAP2000 or STAAD.Pro
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification and PE-license pursuit are preferred

Responsibilities

• Structural design of complex waterway structures (locks, dams, hydraulic gates)
• Prepare construction design documents, plans, and specifications
• Perform quality reviews of drawings and CAD outputs
• Serve as technical contact for client, design professionals, and contractors
• Participate in policy and standard setting through professional associations
• Possibly stamp/sign drawings or serve as Engineer of Record

The Waterway Structures team is growing and has exciting projects for engineers who like to design large complex projects on or near the water. Our projects are unique and provide a diverse array of interesting work to keep our staff challenged and engaged.As a recognized national leader in the design of waterway structures, we handle projects from initial investigation and concept design, through final design and construction services. Responsibilities

• Structural design of complex waterway structures (e.g., locks, dams, hydraulic steel structures, pump stations, hydraulic gates, and waterfronts).
• Prepare construction design documents, plans, and specifications.
• Perform quality reviews of drawings and work products from CAD designers and junior engineers.
• Serve as a technical contact for client, other design professionals, and contractors.
• Serve on professional association committees for establishment of policies, standards, procedures, and research.
• May stamp/sign drawings or reports or serve as Engineer of Record for the project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering required.
• Engineer-in-training (EIT) certification required; PE license or the ability to become licensed within 12 months preferred.
• 7+ years of experience on complex structural projects is required.
• Experience with various structural engineering software analysis packages (i.e.: SAP2000 or STAAD.Pro).
• Prior experience with the US Army Corps of Engineers design procedures and Dam Safety Guidelines is a plus.
• Occasional overnight travel for site visits and/or meetings, as needed.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Compensation: $96,000 to $122,300 per year (depending on qualifications)
