Job summary

Washington County is hiring an Inspector II/III to perform structural and mechanical inspections for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. The inspector also reviews residential construction during all phases to ensure code compliance and safe, durable installations.

An Associate's Degree or equivalent building inspection education with relevant experience.
Two-year plan review education plus two years inspection experience.
One-year inspector review education plus three years inspection experience.
High School Diploma plus five years of plans inspection experience.

Responsibilities

Perform structural and mechanical inspections for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.
Inspect residential construction during all phases for code compliance and safety.
Maintain accurate records and interpret plan specifications against work in progress.
Determine occupancy status and applicable fire and life-safety requirements.
