Job summary

Washington County is seeking an Inspector II/III to perform comprehensive inspections of commercial, industrial, and residential buildings for code compliance. The role includes reviewing structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aspects throughout construction, with emphasis on safety and accuracy.

The position requires relevant education and/or experience, certifications per Oregon state rules, and a valid Oregon driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in an approved inspection-related program or equivalent plus 2+ years inspection experience.
• Two-year plan review education plus 2+ years inspection experience.
• One-year inspector review education plus 3+ years inspection experience.
• High school diploma and 5+ years plans inspection experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural and mechanical inspections for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.
• Inspect residential construction for code compliance across structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing aspects.
• Review plan specifications and compare to construction in progress to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of inspections and findings.
