Job summary

The role requires 5+ years in product design, GD&T, MATLAB, DFMEA/APQP knowledge, and the ability to read drawings and collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; 5+ years in automotive/heavy-duty design.
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Proficiency in MATLAB.
• Ability to read engineering drawings/read blueprints.
• Experience with product validation and reliability.
• Knowledge of DFMEA and APQP methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical hardware design in support of current and new product development.
• Work cross-functionally with departments to improve existing products and develop new technologies.
• Perform engineering calculations using hand calculations, spreadsheets, FEA, or other tools.
• Design new parts in CAD and review FEA results; make design judgments (stress housings, shafts, bearings, machining components).
• Root cause emerging product issues and provide manufacturing support.
• Establish or modify validation plans for components/subassemblies and interpret test reports.
• Communicate technical issues, risks, and proposed solutions to management and cross-functional teams.
