Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the design of primary and secondary structures, including metallic and composite parts, and to mature configurations from concept to production.

You will create 3D models, define load paths and interfaces, and collaborate across materials, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver world-class aerospace hardware while meeting schedule constraints.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering.
• 8+ years of experience with automotive, aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures.
• Experience on recently developed aircraft or launch vehicles in structural design, load paths, materials, and manufacturing techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of primary and secondary structures, including metallic and composite parts.
• Define overall structural configuration, load paths, joints, and interfaces to meet requirements.
• Create and maintain 3D models, drawings, assemblies, and ICDs.
• Support trade studies, evaluating designs against structural, mass, cost constraints.
• Apply manufacturable design approaches balancing performance and producibility.
• Collaborate with materials, manufacturing, and quality teams to translate designs into hardware.
• Drive design maturity from concept through detailed design, release, and production support.
• Ensure designs meet structural, thermal, and manufacturing requirements while meeting schedules.
