Job summary

Degenkolb Engineers is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead seismic structural design across multiple California offices, including Oakland and San Diego. You will guide project teams and collaborate with clients to deliver practical, innovative building solutions.

The ideal candidate has a California license, 5–7+ years in seismic design, and a passion for mentoring staff and advancing projects with technical expertise. A flexible hybrid work model is available.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering and 5–7+ years of relevant experience.
  • CA Professional Civil or Structural Engineer license required.
  • Experience in seismic design of existing buildings in high seismic regions.
  • Proficiency with structural software: ETABS, SAP2000, RAM, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design from concept through construction for high seismic projects.
  • Oversee junior engineers, designers and drafters in producing construction documents.
  • Prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules for client proposals.
  • Maintain close client relationships through project development, execution, and closeout.
  • Pursue business development opportunities.
