Job summary

Degenkolb Engineers is seeking an Associate / Associate Principal for LA and Orange locations to lead the design and delivery of seismic structural systems, from concept to construction. This role blends technical depth with project leadership and client trust building.

The ideal candidate is a licensed structural engineer with seismic experience who mentors teams, guides complex projects, and contributes to business development in a collaborative, growth-focused culture.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Structural Engineering.
• California Professional Engineer license.
• 10–15+ years relevant experience with a stable history.
• Experience in seismic design, seismic evaluation and retrofit of existing buildings.
• Proficiency with ETABS, SAP2000, RAM, Revit, MathCAD, AutoCAD, and Tekla.
• Ability to perform complex structural calculations for varied systems.
• Design skills in steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead seismic design for new and existing buildings.
• Review complex calculations and ensure code compliance.
• Manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
• Oversee juniors and BIM drafters in producing construction documents.
• Lead client meetings, develop proposals, and support BD efforts.
