Job summary

Jobtailor in Philadelphia, PA is seeking a seasoned structural engineer to design structural systems for new construction, renovations, and rehabilitation projects. You will perform calculations, prepare drawings and reports, and coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and other disciplines to deliver high-quality, code-compliant designs.

The role requires 5–10 years of experience, a Civil/Structural degree, EIT certification, and hands-on proficiency with Revit and RAM/ETABS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 5–10 years of structural engineering design experience for commercial, institutional, municipal, transportation, healthcare, higher education, or government facilities.
• Experience designing structural systems in steel, concrete, masonry, and/or timber.
• Proficiency with Revit and structural analysis software such as RAM, ETABS, RISA, or similar.
• Working knowledge of applicable building codes including IBC, AISC, ACI, and ASCE standards.
• Experience preparing engineering calculations and construction documents.
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
• EIT certification required.
• PE license or active pursuit of licensure preferred

Responsibilities

• Design structural systems for new construction, renovation, and rehabilitation building projects.
• Perform structural engineering calculations, analyses, and code compliance reviews.
• Prepare construction drawings, specifications, structural reports, and supporting documentation.
• Utilize Revit/AutoCAD and structural analysis software to support design and coordination.
• Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, MEP engineers, and other project disciplines.
• Conduct field investigations, site assessments, and construction support activities.
• Review design documents for quality, accuracy, and conformance to applicable codes and standards.
• Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and technical coordination efforts.
• Participate in client and project team meetings as needed.
• Mentor entry-level engineers and designers while advancing toward project leadership responsibilities
