Job summary

Jackola Engineering & Architecture in Bozeman, MT seeks a Structural Engineer with a PE license to lead design staff on a variety of building projects, from schools to multifamily and commercial spaces.

You will collaborate with clients, contractors, and vendors, perform design calculations, and ensure code compliance while mentoring junior staff and contributing to a collaborative office culture.

Qualifications

• Requires PE license (SE designation a plus)
• 5+ years of post-graduate experience in structural engineering
• Experience with wood, steel, concrete, and masonry design
• Strong knowledge of building codes and value engineering
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and mentor junior staff
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Independently lead structural design staff through project phases
• Identify and resolve design problems with constructability in mind
• Collaborate in a multi-discipline team to develop concepts, drawings, and specs
• Coordinate with external suppliers, internal teams, and manufacturers
• Ensure designs meet company quality standards
• Use software to calculate gravity, lateral, and foundation loads
• Respond to contractors during construction
