Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. in Newport News, VA is seeking a senior structural engineer to analyze and develop structural specifications for metal, non-metallic and composite systems used in naval construction.

The role covers durability, loads, fatigue and thermal analysis, with tools including CATIA, IDEAS and ProEngineer. Strong civil-engineering fundamentals and collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in engineering from ABET accredited program.
Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience.
Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.

Responsibilities

Analyze, research and develop structural engineering specs for products and operations.
Assess damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling.
Support facilities in new construction project management within civil/structural scope.
Review drawings, supervise construction projects and ensure regulatory compliance.
Coordinate with consultants, contractors and local enforcement agencies to meet schedule and budget.
