Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting in Chicago is seeking a senior Structural Engineer IV to lead complex projects in a growing Facilities Engineering group. You will take ownership, apply advanced technical expertise, and mentor others from concept through completion.

This role targets an experienced engineer who enjoys solving problems, guiding project teams, and delivering safe, high-quality structural solutions across diverse industries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• 5+ years of experience as a structural engineer.
• PE preferred, EIT required.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards.
• Provide leadership and guidance to junior engineers.
• Lead multi-disciplinary engineering project teams.
• Layout and detail projects as Engineer of Record or under supervision of EOR.
• Provide CAD drawings or sketches for Designers/Drafters.
• Research design options and document findings for EOR.
• Assume lead engineer role on assigned projects.
• Direct and supervise Designers/Drafters as needed.
• Attend client meetings as SME.
• Perform field activities: observe conditions, take and verify measurements.
• Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documents.
• Serve as project engineer: manage schedule and budget.
