Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Dallas, TX is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead project teams delivering design for power, process, healthcare and industrial facilities.

You will oversee design through construction, review vendor drawings, manage budgets and schedules, mentor staff, and ensure compliance with codes such as IBC, AISC, ACI and ASCE7.

Travel up to 25% and PE license preferred; strong leadership and communication required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in structural engineering or related field from ABET accredited program with 7 years of structural engineering experience (EPC preferred).
• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam completed with 7 years of structural engineering experience (EPC preferred).
• Master’s degree in structural engineering with 6 years of experience (EPC preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design from conceptual phase through design completion as required by project managers.
• Prepare structural equipment specifications, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
• Review structural vendor drawings and coordinate data with suppliers, clients and other disciplines.
• Participate in development of project schedule, scope, budget, staffing and construction planning; manage change orders effectively.
• Apply expert knowledge of structural concepts, codes and procedures; find non-standard design solutions.
