Job summary

DLR Group in Phoenix seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design of structural systems for diverse projects, from K-12 to mixed-use, and to mentor junior staff while coordinating with architects and clients.

You will manage schedules, develop plans, reviews shop drawings and RFIs, and contribute to proposals, budgets, and business development while advancing sustainable design and SE2050 commitments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of building related structural engineering experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• Experience leading teams of engineers on projects.
• Experience with BIM including Autodesk Revit workflow.
• Knowledge of concrete, masonry, steel and wood/timber design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Passion for sustainable building design and SE2050 commitment.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of structural systems from concept through construction.
• Develop system layouts, narratives, calculations and reports.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients.
• Learn and adapt to variations in building codes and construction practices.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs and participate in O/A/C meetings.
• Mentor entry-level staff and promote best practices.
• Promote workflow and technical standards across a multi-office practice.
• Contribute to managing the Structural Engineering Discipline in California and support RFPs.
