About the Role

Our client, a prominent engineering consultancy, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Structural Engineer to join their dynamic team in East London, Eastern Cape. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed structural analysis and design for a variety of infrastructure projects, including bridges, roads, water retaining structures, and public buildings.
• Prepare comprehensive design reports, technical specifications, and construction drawings in compliance with national and international standards.
• Oversee project execution from conception through to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, geotechnical engineers, and project managers, to achieve project objectives.
• Perform site inspections and provide technical guidance during the construction phase to resolve any structural issues.
• Mentor and supervise junior engineering staff, fostering their professional development.
• Review and approve engineering designs and calculations submitted by team members.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in structural engineering software and methodologies.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Manage client relationships and participate in project meetings and presentations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from a recognized institution.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, with a strong focus on infrastructure projects.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in using structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and other applicable codes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Experience in project management and client liaison.
• Proficiency in CAD software and other relevant engineering tools.
