Job summary

Our client, a respected civil engineering consultancy, seeks a Senior Structural Engineer (Infrastructure) to lead design and analysis of infrastructure projects in Upington, Northern Cape. You will mentor junior engineers and ensure safety and code compliance.

Requirements include a BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering, Pr.Eng with ECSA, 7+ years of infrastructure experience, and proficiency in SAP2000/ETABS/STAAD.Pro. Hybrid working arrangement offered.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering.
• Professional registration as Pr.Eng with ECSA is required.
• Minimum 7 years in structural engineering for infrastructure.
• Proficient in SAP2000/ETABS/STAAD.Pro or similar.
• Strong knowledge of concrete, steel, and composite design.
• FEA experience is advantageous.
• Understanding of construction methods for infrastructure.
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
• Able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design and analysis of bridges, culverts, dams, and industrial structures.
• Prepare detailed structural calculations, drawings, and specs.
• Ensure designs comply with SANS and international codes.
• Perform structural integrity assessments and recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and electrical teams.
• Manage project timelines and deliverables.
• Mentor junior structural engineers.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulators.
• Conduct site inspections and provide on-site support.
• Contribute to design standards and quality control.
