Job description

Kleinschmidt has a full-time opening for a Senior Structural Engineer-Hydropower Lead in either Portland, Oregon or Redmond, Washington to develop hydropower engineering work in the region and support projects across Kleinschmidt. Our flexibility and core value of relationships allow us to offer employees the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment.

Salary

$115,000 - $185,000/year (based on experience)

Who You Are
  • Knowledgeable: A licensed Professional Engineer with a BS in Civil Engineering, and at least 15 years' experience in hydropower engineering, business development, client management, and project management. Familiar with standards and codes relevant to structural engineering. Experienced in analysis and design of concrete and steel structures in water, including dams, gates, spillways, penstocks, and powerhouse structures. Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary design teams including hydrology/hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and geotechnical engineers. Field experience working with clients and contractors during project planning and construction. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and mentorship skills.
  • Project Manager: Experienced in managing large, complex, multidisciplinary projects, working directly with senior leadership and project teams to provide practical solutions for renewable energy, water, and environmental challenges.
  • Relationship-focused: Skilled at establishing long-term client relationships and effectively working with multidisciplinary teams from analysis and design through to construction.
Additional Requirements
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States.
  • Willing to travel and possess a valid driver's license.

This role involves designing and managing hydroelectric and fisheries facilities, integrating civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic engineering skills.
