Job summary

Madsen Associates seeks a motivated mid-to-senior level licensed Professional Engineer forensics-focused role, covering residential, commercial, industrial, marine, and inland structures. The candidate will perform failure cause and origin analyses, author technical reports, and engage in construction litigation support as background allows.

Responsibilities include field documentation, repair scope recommendations, evaluation of drawings, client communication, and managing multiple projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Maryland Licensed Professional Engineer (NCEES) with multi-state registrations a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience in design or related background.
• Knowledge of national building/construction codes (ICC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS).
• Experience or exposure to litigation support including expert testimony desirable.

Responsibilities

• Document as-built conditions and damage to structural systems from natural or human causes.
• Establish repair scope and cause/origin analyses using codes and structural knowledge.
• Evaluate design drawings and documentation.
• Communicate with clients, code officials, and contractors; prepare detailed reports.
• Manage multiple projects; complete within time and budget.
• Develop and maintain client relationships; travel as needed on short notice.
