Job summary

Madsen Associates is seeking a mid-to-senior level licensed Professional Engineer to join our team of multidisciplinary licensed engineers in San Francisco. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of structural systems for forensic engineering across residential, commercial, and industrial facilities, with experience in failure cause and origin analyses and in constructing technical reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Architectural Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 10 years structural engineering experience in design or related fields.
• CA Licensed Professional Engineer through NCEES; multi-state registration a plus.
• Knowledge of national building/construction codes (ICC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS).
• Strong knowledge of structural concepts, principles and practices.
• Experience with multiple construction types; field experience preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Litigation support experience including expert testimony desirable.

Responsibilities

• Fieldwork to document conditions and damage to structural systems after events.
• Use codes and structural knowledge to define repair scope and origin analyses.
• Evaluate design drawings and documentation for accuracy.
• Communicate with clients, code officials, and contractors; write detailed reports.
• Manage multiple projects, delivering on time and within budget.
• Develop client relationships and travel as needed.
