Job summary

SOCOTEC is a leading niche consulting firm in the AEC industry, focusing on high-performance buildings and specialty structures. We seek a Principal Engineer with 10–25 years of design and field experience to join our US - Engineering Advanced Analysis department in Chicago.

You will conduct field investigations, interact with clients and other professionals, and perform forensic investigations with litigation support. You’ll also help grow the Chicago office and manage a diverse workload.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree; MS in Civil/Structural Engineering preferred.
• Professional licensure/registration for IL required.
• Experience with AutoCAD and analysis/design of structures required; BIM a plus.
• Strong oral and written communication skills required.
• Some travel to attend site meetings and investigations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field investigations, analysis and design.
• Interact with clients and other design/construction professionals.
• Perform forensic investigations and litigation support for expert witness services.
• Able to perform business development tasks and grow the book of business.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
