Job summary

SOCOTEC, Inc. is seeking a structural engineer in New York to assist with investigations, analyses, and repair design. The role includes on-site inspections, data collection, report preparation, and close collaboration with senior staff.

Requirements include 2–4 years of civil/structural experience, a BS (MS preferred), and strong CAD/analysis skills. Some travel across the country is expected, with most work performed in-office a few days per week.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of relevant structural engineering experience.
• Bachelor degree in Civil/Structural Engineering; MS preferred.
• EIT certification preferred; licensure/PE progress is a plus.
• Experience with AutoCAD and computation/analysis of structures required; BIM familiarity a plus.
• Strong oral and written communication skills required.
• Ability to travel, including multi-day site inspections across the country.

Responsibilities

• Review structural designs for code compliance.
• Perform structural analysis and root-cause investigations; prepare repair designs.
• Conduct on-site inspections and data collection with potential multi-day travel.
• Prepare technical reports and repair details; ensure documentation is thorough.
• Attend the office regularly and support project teams.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Job Description

We are looking for a structural engineer to assist in structural investigations, analyses, and repair design. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Review of structural designs for code compliance
• Structural analysis, document review, and research for root cause evaluation
• On-site inspections and collection of data. Note that site inspections may require multi-day travel to other parts of the country
• Preparation of reports and repair details
• Regular attendance in the office
• Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of relevant structural engineering experience.
• Minimum Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering. Master of Science preferred.
• EIT (Engineer in Training) certification preferred; progress toward Professional Licensure/Registration (PE) is a plus.
• Experience with AutoCAD and computer-aided analysis/design of structures is required; experience with BIM software is a plus.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are also required.
• Ability to travel is required, including multi-day travel for site inspections to other parts of the country.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.
