Job summary

Actalent in Houston seeks a Principal Structural Engineer to lead dynamic analysis and machine foundation design for power generation and heavy industrial facilities. You will guide vibration studies, perform FEA, and ensure robust foundation solutions for turbines and related equipment.

The role requires PE licensure with 15+ years’ experience in structural and foundation design, including concrete systems, soil-structure interaction, and multidisciplinary project leadership.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil or Structural Engineering required or equivalent.
• 15+ years of structural engineering experience with emphasis on foundations for heavy industrial facilities.
• PE license required; SE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead dynamic analysis and machine foundation design for power generation facilities.
• Perform advanced vibration analysis and FEA to assess foundation performance.
• Develop and review concrete and other structural designs with emphasis on foundations for turbines and equipment.
• Oversee structural integrity assessments and ensure code compliance.
• Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate with project teams to integrate structural solutions into overall facility designs.
• Model using STAAD and RISA to optimize foundation systems.
• Evaluate soil-structure interaction effects in design approaches.
• Support projects involving power generation and heavy industrial equipment.
