Job summary

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) seeks a Senior Staff Engineer in Wall, NJ for the Structural Department. You will perform design and analysis for multiple structural systems, prepare calculations and drawings, and coordinate with internal disciplines.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree with structural focus, 2–4 years of experience, and an EIT certification or ability to obtain soon after hire. Travel for site inspections in NJ/NY is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural focus.
• 2–4 years of structural design experience, preferably in consulting.
• EIT certification required or obtainable soon after hire.
• Working knowledge of RAM, RISA, ETABS, SAP2000 or similar.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred.
• Familiarity with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI and other codes.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to travel for inspections in NJ and NY.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for steel, concrete, masonry and wood.
• Prepare structural calculations, reports and design docs.
• Assist with construction documents, drawings and specs.
• Coordinate with internal disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical, architecture).
• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs during construction.
• Field observations and site visits to evaluate structures.
• Support PMs with scheduling, coordination and deliverables.
• Ensure designs meet codes and industry standards.
• Participate in internal design reviews and QC processes.
